Gastric Balloon Program
A gastric balloon is a pill balloon capsule, which is swallowed under the guidance of Healthcare Professionals without anaesthesia or endoscopy. The balloon will be inflated in your stomach, checked using an x-ray and you’ll be on your way! The entire procedure takes approximately 15 minutes during an outpatient visit. You will also be supported by using the Allurion Connected Scale, Health Tracker and App.

The process starts with the patient swallowing a small capsule that contains the deflated Allurion Balloon. This capsule is attached to a thin catheter.
Once the capsule reaches the stomach, the balloon inside is inflated with water through the catheter. This is done under the guidance of a physician and x-ray technician.
The correct placement and inflation of the balloon are confirmed using x-ray. This step is crucial to ensure that the balloon is properly situated in the stomach.
After the balloon is inflated and its placement is confirmed, the catheter is gently removed. This completes the insertion process.
