The OPTIFAST® Program utilizes a meal replacement plan that transitions to self-prepared ‘everyday’ meals, in conjunction with comprehensive patient education and support.

The OPTIFAST® Program is more than a diet plan. It is a lifestyle changing educational program that limits calorie intake while providing the support and expertise of healthcare professionals. The program helps you to achieve your weight loss goals and support your long-term success.

What to Expect with OPTIFAST®

Your first visit to the clinic will last approximately 45 minutes. The goal of this visit is to welcome you to the clinic, hear your story and discuss what your treatment plan may look like. You will see the Bariatric Medicine Specialist, who will complete the following:

Step One

Clinical Interview

The doctor will ask you about your medical history. This will include questions such as: "What factors are contributing to your condition? What other medical problems are associated with your weight issues? How do these conditions impact your life? How can we help treat your condition?"

Step Two

Physical Assessment
The doctor will measure your vital signs and perform a routine physical exam and a Body Composition Analysis.

Step Three

Discussion About Your Treatment Plan

The doctor will outline your meal replacement options according to your metabolic needs and discuss behaviour changes along with nutrition and exercise components. Your doctor may also discuss the potential role of medications and non-medical alternatives (e.g., intra-gastric balloons or surgery) if applicable.

Connect With Other Team Members

Once your assessment is completed and we have agreed on a treatment plan, you will be referred to our patient care team to complete the following steps:

  • A 60-minute initial assessment with a Registered Dietitian to review your dietary patterns and concerns, helping to create a tailored nutritional plan and to set goals.*

  • A 45-minute initial assessment with a Weight Loss Coach. This initial interaction is used to discuss your weight loss goals, review your current behaviours and physical activity, and to develop a weight-loss plan that fits your needs and preferences.*

Ultimately, the choices in your treatment journey are yours to make. As your team of medical experts and weight-loss professionals, we're here to provide insight and support, fostering a collaborative partnership. We empower you with the necessary information, enabling you to make well-informed decisions about your health.

For Better Results, we Offer Body Composition Tracking with InBody

Body composition is used by health professionals to evaluate a person’s weight by breaking it down into its core components: fat, protein, minerals, and body water. It describes your healthy weight more accurately and provides a better glimpse into your overall health than traditional methods like body mass index & weight.

Body composition analysis can accurately show changes in fat mass, lean muscle mass, and body fat percentage.
